Every app in this category asked me for the same thing first: connect your bank. Hand over your banking credentials to a third-party aggregator so an app can read your transaction history and guess which charges are recurring.
That is a genuinely reasonable trade for some people. It was not one I wanted to make, and when I looked for an alternative, the options were a notes app and a spreadsheet.
So Recurra takes the opposite approach. You tell it what you pay for — from a catalog of 30+ services, or by screenshotting your Apple subscriptions page, which it reads on-device. It takes about a minute. In exchange, the app never touches your bank, never asks for an account, and has no server to send anything to.
The honest trade-off: because Recurra never reads your bank, it cannot magically discover a subscription you have forgotten about. You have to add things once. What it can do is make sure that after that minute of setup, nothing renews without warning you first.
People with somewhere between five and twenty-five recurring payments who want one screen that answers "what am I actually paying for?" — and who would rather type in six service names than link a bank account.
