There are two possible routes, and using the wrong one is why people cancel Amazon Prime and still get charged. Check which applies to you first.

This is the step people skip. Amazon Prime can be billed either by Apple (if you subscribed inside an iPhone or iPad app) or by Amazon Prime directly (if you signed up on their website). Only the biller can cancel it.
To check: open Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. If Amazon Prime appears there, Apple bills you — use route A. If it does not, use route B.

Worth knowing: Amazon may offer a partial refund if you have made little use of the benefits since renewing — take the "end now and get a refund" option rather than "end on renewal date" if that applies. The flow deliberately takes several screens.
You lose free shipping, Prime Video, and Prime Music. Anything you bought stays yours. Household members sharing your benefits lose them too.
Always confirm it worked. Look for a cancellation email, and re-open the billing page to check the status reads cancelled or "ends on [date]". Then set a calendar reminder for the day after the period ends and check your card statement. A surprising number of cancellations do not take on the first attempt.
